Women's Golf Roundup

Three UCLA women's golfers competed in a pair of tournaments over the past few weeks with solid results.
At the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, MO, UCLA players Hannah Jun and Amie Cochran advanced well into the match play draw before falling. Both players tied for 13th individually in the stroke play competition and each entered the match play tree in different halves of the bracket.
Jun won a pair of matches before bowing out in the third round. She defeated Julia Huh of Pasadena, MD, 4 and 3 in the first round. In the second round she beat Rachel Smith of Powell, TN, 2-up. She lost 1-up in the third round to Mari Chun of Pearl City, HI in the third round.
Cochran won three matches before falling in the quarterfinals. The UCLA sophomore defeated Kyu Ri Ban of Korea 6 and 4 in round one. In the second round she beat Kelly Jacques of Longmont, CO, 5 and 4. In the round of 16 she beat Marina Choi of Los Angeles, 2 and 1. She lost in 19 holes in the quarterfinals to Tiffany Chudy of Miramar, FL.
At the Women's Western Amateur, incoming freshman Ryann O'Toole of San Clemente won her first round match 6 and 4 against Kristie Newton of Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia. O'Toole lost 4 and 3 in the second round to Onnarin Sattayabanphat of W. Lafayette, IN.
