Big Performances By Dana Kirk And Brooke Bishop Cap Janet Evans Invitational

Los Angeles, Calif. - Current Stanford swimmers Dana Kirk (2005-06 senior) and Brooke Bishop (2005-06 sophomore) had big performances on Sunday's final day of the 2005 Janet Evans Invitational at USC's McDonald Swim Stadium. Kirk won the 100 fly in a time of 1:00.64 for her second win of the meet after a victory in the 200 fly on Friday. Bishop recorded a pair of personal-best times to finish second to Kirk in the 100 fly (1:01.60) and to Aya Terakawa (1:01.91) in the 100 back (1:03.20).
Andrea Axtell (2005-06 freshman) was ninth overall and victorious in the 'A Consolation' final of the 100 back (1:04.33) and 32nd in the 100 fly (1:05.28 prelims) competing for Texas Longhorns Aquatics, while fellow 2005-06 freshman Alexa Merz (WSTA-CA) also competed in the 100 back (91st, 1:14.32 prelims) and 100 breast (1:24.50 prelims).
Hayley Peirsol (Novaquatics) continued her winning ways with her fourth victory in as many days of the meet with a 1500 meter victory crown in 16:13.64. Yi Ting Siow (Bss-FL) won the 200 IM in 2:17.99 and Staciana Winfield was an individual winner in the 100 breast (1:09.89).
The TROJ-CA 400 medley relay team was a winner in 4:16.44 with a foursome of Joanna Fargus (1:04.47), Kristina Sieper (1:14.49), Emily Goetsch (1:01.91) and Rhi Jeffrey (55.57).
The meet was the last of four stops on the Grand Prix circuit leading up to the FINA World Championships (July 24-31) in Montreal, Canada, and the World University Games (August 12-17) in Izmir, Turkey.
