TORONTO, Ontario - Washington forward Breanne Watson has been selected to the 2005 Canadian Women's Basketball Development National Team that will participate in the FISU World University Games in Izmir, Turkey, Aug. 10-20.
Watson, a native of Richmond, B.C., was initially selected to the 15-player training squad roster after participating in the combined Senior and Developmental Women's National Team tryouts that took place July 8-10, at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. The team, coached by Wilfrid Laurier head coach Stu Jones, was then narrowed down to 12 players to make up the squad that will represent Canada at the World University Games.
Prior to her freshman year at Washington, Watson also played with the Canadian National Developmental Team that competed at the FISU World University Games in Deagu, Korea, in August, 2003.
Watson, who will be a junior in the fall, played in all 30 games for the Huskies last year, starting seven. She averaged 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
