Mackenzie and Prange Advance at Trans Am

Southern Pines, NC - Husky senior Paige Mackenzie advanced to the second round of match play at the 75th Women's Trans National Golf Association championship at the Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Mackenzie defeated Nicole Hayashi 6 and 5 in the round of 64.

Mackenzie will face Mallory Hetzel in the second round.

Washington junior Amber Prange also moved on the the second round of match play by beating Carling Coffing in 21 holes. She will meet Garrett Phillips in the second round.

Mackenzie is the top seed in match play after winning the 36-hole stroke play part of the tournament.

The Trans Am will feature two rounds of match play on Friday, reducing the field to eight players. The quarterfinals and semifinals are slated for Saturday and the 36-hole final will take place Sunday.

The Trans Am is considered one of the nation's three top amateur tournaments for women.
