LePeilbet Selected as One of 18 Players to Compete for Team USA Sunday
July 22, 2005
TEMPE, Ariz. - Amy LePeilbet, a former standout on the Arizona State University soccer team (2000-03), has been selected to one of 18 roster spots for the United States Women's National Team game Sunday against Iceland, American Head Coach Greg Ryan announced Friday. Twenty-four players attended a training camp this week with LePeilbet and 17 other players earning a place on the WNT when the team plays host to Iceland at 2 p.m. PST at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
LePeilbet (Crystal Lake, Ill.), who has recorded seven career caps with the American side, will be looking to enter her second contest of the 2005 slate after earning a start in the WNT's 2-0 defeat of Canada in Virginia Beach, Va., June 26. Considered one of the most decorated players in the history of the ASU program, LePeilbet and Team USA will look to continue their recent unbeaten streak as the Americans have won each of their last seven games. Its defense has been outstanding, as it has not allowed a single goal in each of those seven contests.
Fans will have two opportunities to watch the WNT and LePeilbet, an All-American at ASU. Cable giant ESPN2 will broadcast the match live Sunday while ussoccer.com will once again feature a live web cast.
