July 27, 2005

TEMPE, Ariz. - Both the Arizona State men's and women's tennis teams have earned 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team awards, the ITA announced today.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). This is the first time ASU has earned the honor.

The men's team placed a school record five athletes on the Pac-10 All-Academic Team, while the women's team tied an all-time high with four members of the Pac-10 All-Academic Team. Rebecca Rankin, a sophomore from England, was named to the ITA's Scholar Athlete Team in addition to her First Team Pac-10 All-Academic honor thanks to her 3.82 GPA.
