Four Stanford Affiliates Compete On First Day Of 2005 Summer Nationals

Irvine, Calif. - Four current Stanford swimmers competed on the first day of action Wednesday at the 2005 ConocoPhillips Summer National Championships, which kicked off with timed finals in the 800 free. Morgan Hentzen (2005-06 junior) highlighted the performances with a 12th-place showing (8:45.06). Lauren Costella (2005-06 junior) was 24th with a time of 8:50.55, followed by 2005-06 sophomore Elizabeth Durot (26th, 8:51.19) and 2005-06 junior Desiree Stahley (42nd, personal-best 8:55.44).

Kate Ziegler (The Fish) won the event in a time of 8:31.11.

The five-day long-course meters meet at the William J. Woollett Aquatic Center will continue Thursday and run through this Sunday, August 7.
