Niemi Named Assistant Public Relations Director, Collins Named Championships Programs Manager

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Bri Niemi has been named Assistant Public Relations Director by the Pacific-10 Conference, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Theresa Collins has been named Championships Programs Manager. Alisa Brandle and Katie Cavender have been named the Public Relations Interns for the 2005-2006 year.
Niemi joined the Pac-10 in 2002 as a public relations intern and was an administrative assistant in the championships department from 2003-2005. She also briefly served as the Championships Programs Manager. In her new position, she is responsible for assisting in the Conference's public relations program with particular emphasis on women's basketball and administering the Conference's internet operation. She will also serve as the Media Director for the Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament. Niemi is a 2002 graduate of the University of Washington.
Before joining the Conference, Collins served as an assistant development officer for UC Davis. She played an active role in the Aggie Auction, a program that raises nearly $500,000 annually for athletics scholarships. In her new position, she will assist in the administration of Pac-10 championships and awards programs.
Brandle is a Spokane, Wash. native and a 2005 graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in English and a minor in Communication. She served as a media relations student assistant in the Washington Sports Information Department for two years and as the Baseball Information Intern with the Seattle Mariners during the 2005 season. Brandle will serve as the Conference contact for softball, wrestling, and men's and women's golf. She will also assist with the promotion of football, women's soccer and women's basketball.
Cavender comes from the University of Nevada where she served as a publicity, promotions and public relations assistant for three years while studying journalism. A 2005 graduate, Cavender will serve as the Conference contact for baseball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's tennis. She also will assist with the promotion of men's soccer, women's volleyball and men's basketball.
