Stanford Affiliates Continue Action At 2005 Summer Senior Nationals

Irvine, Calif. - Stanford women's swimming affiliates continued action on the third day of competition Friday at the 2005 ConocoPhillips Summer Senior National Championships. The top finishes by Stanford affiliates were as members of 800 free relay teams as Andrea Axtell (2005-06 freshman) swam the first leg (2:04.62) of a second-place Longhorn Aquatics squad that finished in 8:16.08. Elizabeth Durot (2005-06 sophomore) also swam a leadoff leg (2:04.07) for a ninth-place Dynamo Swim Club that clocked in with a time of 2:07.18.
Three Stanford affiliates -- Desiree Stahley (2005-06 junior), Brooke Bishop (2005-06 sophomore) and Dana Kirk (2005-06 senior) -- swam the first, second and fourth legs of a Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics squad the finished 12th in a time of 8:24.21. Stahley clocked in with a 2:06.28 split, while Bishop checked in at 2:03.95 and Kirk was at 2:05.26.
Laura Davis (400 IM, 25th, 4:56.50 prelims), Durot (200 free, 29th, 2:04.07) and Stahley (200 free, 52nd, 2:05.72).
Kristen Caverly (2005-06 senior) was entered in the 400 IM but did not compete.
Brittany Reimer (Canada/SKSC) was a winner in the 200 free on Friday with a time of 1:59.73, while Ariana Kukors (KING-PN) captured the 400 IM in 4:43.32.
California Aquatics won the 800 free relay in a time of 8:13.29 with a foursome of Emily Silver (2:05.35), Erin Reilly (2:02.55), Ashley Chandler (2:01.88) and Lauren Medina (2:03.51).
All Stanford affiliates were swimming for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics other than Axtell (Longhorn Aquatics), Durot (Dynamo Swim Club) and Davis (Terrapin Swim Team).
The five-day long-course meters meet that began Tuesday at the William J. Woollett Aquatic Center will continue with the fourth day of action Saturday before concluding on Sunday, August 7. Heats start each day at 9:00 am, PT, while the finals session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm, PT.
