Volleyball Picked Seventh In Preseason Pac-10 Poll

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- In a vote by conference head coaches, the Arizona State Sun Devils were picked to finish seventh in the annual Pac-10 Volleyball Preseason Poll. Defending conference champion Washington was selected to repeat its league title.
Defending national champion Stanford was picked second, followed by USC, Arizona, UCLA and California. ASU has been picked to finish where they finished the 2004 season (7th), followed by Oregon State, Oregon and Washington State.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) also announced its preseason top 25 poll this week with six Pac-10 teams listed in the top 20. Of ASU's 30 scheduled matches in 2005, the Sun Devils will play 14 against teams listed in the preseason poll.
The Sun Devils open the 2005 season at the Fremont Investment & Loan Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge (Aug. 26-27). ASU will play No. 23 St. Mary's to open the season at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 26. ASU returns all but one player from the 2004 squad that was 10-17.
