USA Basketball Scores Win Over Czech Republic

The USA Women's Baksetball team opened up play in the World University Games on Wednesday, August 10, with an 88-64 win over the Czech Republic in a contest played in Izmir, Turkey. UCLA's Lisa Willis came off the bench and connected on two three-point shots and scored a total of eight points in the contest. Willis made three of seven shots from the floor and two of six from three-point range. She also had one assist and one rebound.
The Czech Republic led 19-18 after the first quarter of action, before the USA regained the lead and began to pull away in the second and third quarters. Notre Dame's Megan Duffy led a balanced USA attack with 14 points. Eight USA players scored at least eight points in the game.
Next up for the USA team is a Thursday contest against South Africa. The USA will play China on Friday.
