USC Earns No. 7 Ranking In CSTV/AVCA Preseason Poll

LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team has earned a No. 7 ranking in the 2005 CSTV/AVCA Division I Coaches Preseason Top 25 poll. The Women of Troy will have an opportunity this season to set a school mark with a fourth consecutive NCAA Final Four appearance.
Nebraska picked up 35 of 60 first-place votes to earn the top spot. Rounding out the top five are four teams that are on USC's schedule this season: Washington, Stanford, Hawai'i and Penn State.
USC was also picked to finish third in the Pac-10 Conference, according to the Pac-10 Conference Coaches Preseason poll. Washington earned eight first-place votes, followed by second-place Stanford with two first-place votes. Arizona was picked to finish fourth followed by UCLA, California, Arizona State, Oregon State, Oregon and Washington State.
The Women of Troy return 11 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 23-6, reaching the national semifinal.
USC will open the 2005 season on Saturday (Aug. 27) with a 7 p.m. home match against Cal Poly at the Lyon Center. The game will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
