TEMPE, Ariz. - Head Coach Clint Myers has completed his coaching staff for his first season at Arizona State, hiring former Tennessee and Oklahoma softball coach Jim Beitia and former Sun Devil standout Kirsten Voak. Beitia and Voak join Robert Wagner, who was named to the staff in July.
Beitia was the first softball head coach at Tennessee, beginning the program in 1996. He spent six seasons with the Lady Vols, compiling a career record of 233-163. Prior to starting up the softball program at Tennessee, Beitia was the head coach for the Oklahoma Sooners in 1994. The Sooners posted a 58-15 record with an NCAA Regional Final appearance in his only season in Norman. Beitia spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach at Jacksonville University. He also coached the Spanish National Team in 2003.
Voak was an outstanding pitcher for Arizona State from 1999 until 2002, earning All-American honors in 1999 and 2000. Voak was an All Pac-10 member in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Over her four seasons, she totaled 76 wins, third most in school history. She struck out 893 batters, putting her at number one on ASU's all-time list. She finished her career with a 1.48 ERA, including four no-hitters and a perfect game. Voak was a member of Women's College World Series teams in 1999 and 2002.
