Junior tailback Reggie Bush caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Matt Leinart to highlight the two-time defending national champion USC football team's 74-play intrasquad scrimmage under the lights on campus on Sunday (Aug. 14).

Bush, an All-American who was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy last year, also rushed for 76 yards on 5 carries. Leinart, the 2004 Heisman winner, hit 12-of-20 passes for 187 yards and also scored a touchdown on a 1-yard sneak.

Junior tailback LenDale White gained 68 yards on 10 carries, including a 15-yard touchdown. The scrimmage's other TD came on a 1-yard sneak by sophomore quarterback Michael McDonald.

Sophomore placekicker Mario Danelo hit both of his field goal tries, from 27 and 42 yards.

Soph wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett had 6 catches for 94 yards, sophomore tailback Chauncey Washington ran for 68 yards on 6 tries and soph quarterback John David Booty completed 6-of-13 passes for 56 yards.

Freshman linebacker Rey Maualuga had 6 tackles.

But USC's offense committed 6 penalties and lost a fumble.

'This was a good, fast-moving scrimmage,' said USC head coach Pete Carroll. 'We got some good work out of Bush, White and Leinart. And the wide receivers all did well, with Jarrett standing out. But the line was sloppy tonight.'

Pre-season No. 1-ranked USC opens its 2005 season at Hawaii on Sept. 3.
