Bears Win Italy Tour Opener, 111-66

REGGIO EMILIA, Italy - California successfully opened the competitive portion of its Italian exhibition tour with a 111-66 victory over Ge-Mart of Reggio Emilia Tuesday night. Sophomore guard Omar Wilkes tallied 17 points to lead eight Bears in double figures.
Cal used a precision offensive attack to score 111 points, as all 10 players who played reached the scoring column. Junior guard Ayinde Ubaka tallied nine assists with just two turnovers, while sophomore center DeVon Hardin added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. The Bears were led on the glass by Leon Powe, who pulled down nine boards to go with 15 points. Cal also shot 15-for-16 from the free throw line.
Following the game, the Bears had dinner and headed off to Venice, where they will be based the next two days. On Wednesday, Cal plays KK Jance in Treviso at 8 p.m., the Bears will meet Trieste in Triesta Thursday at 6 p.m.
