USA Basketball Advances to WUG Semifinals

The USA Women's Basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the World University Games in Izmir, Turkey with a 109-57 win over Taiwan on Tuesday, August 16. UCLA's Lisa Willis came off the bench and scored eight points for the USA team, which was led by the 16 points poured in by Candice Dupree. Willis added five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the contest.
The USA team used an 11-2 run to end the first half with a 46-28 advantage and then blew the game open during the second half. The win improved the USA team record to 5-0 in the competition.
The USA will play in the semifinals on August 17 against Russia, which is also unbeaten in WUG play. The other semifinal contest features Australia versus Serbia-Montenegro. The World University Games final will be played on Friday August 19.
