Curtis And Bresnehan Among Top Prospects In The Cape Cod League

TEMPE, Ariz. ( -- Arizona State juniors Pat Bresnehan and Colin Curtis were ranked by Baseball America among the top 30 prospects in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.

Curtis (Issaquah, Wash.) was listed as the No. 23 prospect and the top outfielder in the league. Curtis hit .323 (32-for-99) with 19 runs, six doubles and 11 stolen bases to help lead the Orleans Cardinals to the Cape Cod League Championship. He was also named the MVP of the East squad in the All-Star game. A two-year starter for the Sun Devils, Curtis is coming off a solid sophomore season in which he hit .342 (89-for-260) with 45 RBI and 17 stolen bases. He also had a strong postseason performance, hitting .400 (16-for-40) with a home run while helping the Sun Devils to a third-place finish in the College World Series.

Bresnehan (Sherborn, Mass.) was ranked as the No. 28 prospect in the league and impressed scouts with a fastball consistently clocking in the mid 90's. Bresnehan was 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 27.1 innings for the Harwich Mariners.

Junior infielder Joe Persichina (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and senior right-handed pitcher Kevin Dryanski (Phoenix, Ariz.) also played in the Cape Cod League over the summer. Persichina hit .242 (23-for-95) with six doubles and one triple for Harwich and Dryanski was 0-2 with a 2.50 ERA in 11 appearances for the Brewster Whitecaps.
