Tempe, Ariz. - Former ASU student-athlete Jake Plummer joins five other professional athletes and two coaches on the inaugural Team Tillman, announced Team Tillman GM and NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott.
Plummer, who was teammates with Pat Tillman on ASU's 1996 Rose Bowl Team, has pledged $1000 to the Tillman Foundation for every touchdown he scores this season. Team Tillman is a new effort to help the Pat Tillman Foundation expand its Leadership Through Action program.
As Team Tillman's general manager, Lott has compiled a list of six professional athletes and two coaches in the professional ranks that have pledged money to the foundation based on their on-field accomplishments this season. Joining Plummer on the team is Derek Smith (LB, San Francisco 49ers, $100 per tackle), Tiki Barber (RB, New York Giants), Kyle Vanden Bosch (DE, Tennessee Titans), Tillman's former teammate Scott Player (Punter, Arizona Cardinals, $100 per punt inside the 20), and his former coaches Dave McGinnis (Linebacker Coach, Tennessee Titans, $100 per turnover) and Larry Marmie (Defensive coordinator, St. Louis Rams, $100 per turnover). Also participating during this NHL season will be Mike Ricci of the Phoenix Coyotes.
Fans are invited to participate in the Team Tillman effort as well, by picking their favorite Team Tillman athletes and pledging donations for their accomplishments. Team Tillman has plans to span all professional sports. For more information and an updated Team Tillman roster, visit the website at http://www.pattillmanfoundation.org.
