USC Football To Hold Free Public Scrimmage In Coliseum This Sunday
Aug. 18, 2005
The two-time defending national champion USC football team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage--free and open to the public--at 1 p.m. this Sunday (Aug. 21) in the Coliseum.
Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Seating is on a first come basis.
Limited parking is available at the Coliseum for $8, as well as unlimited on the USC campus for $6.
Concession stands will be open. Tailgating is allowed.
The scrimmage will be conducted as a mock game, with the Trojans bused over from a local hotel. They'll arrive at the Coliseum at 11 a.m. and do their traditional 'Trojan Walk' through the crowd outside the east end of the Coliseum, marching down the peristyle and into the locker room. They'll go through pre-game warmups on the field and then conduct a full contact scrimmage. This will be USC's dress rehearsal for their 2005 season opener at Hawaii on Sept. 3.
There will be season ticket and apparel giveaways for fans in attendance, as well as carnival-type games for youngsters.
USC is riding a 22-game winning streak. The Trojans have won their last 21 games in the Coliseum, where they averaged a school-record 85,229 fans last season.
