Aug. 18, 2005

SEATTLE--The No. 2 ranked Washington volleyball team will be recognized this evening at a Seattle Storm game for its achievements in 2004 and its preseason No. 2 national ranking. The Storm will face the Minnesota Lynx tonight at 7 pm as the teams battle for a playoff spot.

'We feel very honored to be recognized by the Seattle Storm,' said assistant coach Leslie Tuiasosopo. 'The Storm is a tremendous team and we are excited to join them tonight when they battle Minnesota for a playoff spot.'

Last season, the Huskies won their first Pac-10 title and advanced to the program's first Final Four. Five players were named to the Pac-10 all-conference team and three earned All-America accolades. Head coach Jim McLaughlin was the National Coach of the Year and freshman Christal Morrison earned the Pacific Region and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year awards.

Washington is ranked second in the preseason CSTV/AVCA Coaches' Top 25 poll and will open the season next week when it hosts the Husky Challenge, Aug. 26-27. The Huskies make their debut on Aug. 26 against Gardner-Webb at 7 pm.
