Chappell Makes the Cut at U.S. Amateur

UCLA Sophomore Kevin Chappell earned a spot in the match play draw of the 105th U.S. Amateur Championship Monday, hosted at historic Merion Golf Club and the Philadelphia Country Club.

Chappell posted rounds of 73-73-146 (+6) to make the 36-hole cut on the number. Tuesday he played Merion Golf Club in three-over par. He will tee off Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. (EDT) with 19 other players to determine the seeding and opponent for his first round match.

Three other current and former Bruins failed to make the cut: John Poucher tied for 138th at 151 (+11), junior Chris Heintz tied for 157th at 152 (+12) and former All-American Roy Moon tied for 220th at 156 (+16).
