Stanford Women Win USF Invitational

San Francisco, Ca - The Stanford women's cross country team began its 2005 season on a successful note with a victory on Saturday at the USF Invitational.

Four Cardinal runners finished in the Top 5 including a 1-2 finish by Arianna Lambie and Julie Allen. Lambie ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:18.3 while Allen was timed in 18:20.7. Lindsay Flacks finished fourth (18:27.1) and Katie Harrington placed fifth (18:28.7).

The Stanford women finished with 42 points compared to runnerup Arizona with 56. San Jose State finished third (70 points).

The Cardinal men placed seven runners in the Top 11 but it still wasn't enough as the Cardinal placed second in the team standings to Arizona. The Wildcats placed 1-2-3-4 to win with 24 points compared to 35 for the Cardinal. Hari Mix was Stanford's top runner with a time of 25:34.7 over 5,000 meters.
