UCLA's Sal Zizzo Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA freshman midfielder Sal Zizzo has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 30 - Sept. 5, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.??In his first collegiate start, Zizzo, from San Diego, Calif., scored a goal and two assists in UCLA's 4-0 upset victory over second-ranked Maryland. He assisted on UCLA's first two goals and scored the final goal in the second half. After one weekend of play, Zizzo leads the Bruins in scoring with four points.
Zizzo was a member of the U.S. Under-18 National team that played in the Lisbon International Tournament and the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland. He received Parade and NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American honors in 2005 and was a member of the 2003 National Champion ODP Cal South team.
The Bruins (1-1) were picked by the coaches to win the Pac-10 men's soccer title this season. Their performance earned them the No. 2-ranking in the pre-season Soccer America poll and slotted them at No. 9 in the NSCAA/adidas poll. They will face Loyola Marymount on Sunday.??This is Zizzo's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and 22nd all-time weekly honor for UCLA.
