CS Northridge Tops Cardinal Men 1-0 At Cal Tourney

Berkeley, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge men's soccer team scored early and held on for a 1-0 win over Stanford this afternoon at the adidas Cal Legacy Classic in Berkeley, Calif. The Cardinal drop to 0-2-1 on the year while the Matadors improve to 3-0-0.

CSN's Willie Sims scored in the fourth minute of play with an assist by Daniel Paladini on a shot off goaltender Josh Nesbit (Waterford, VA). Nesbit recorded five saves on the afternoon in 90 minutes of work in goal.

The Matadors outshot the Cardinal, 15-12. Freshman T.J. Novak (Fenton, MO) took three shots on goal while Galen Thompson (Denver, CO), Marcus Ryan (Littleton, CO), Dan Shapiro (New Haven, CT) and Tunji Munabi (Wynnewood, PA) each had two.

Stanford, still looking for their first win of the season, will face Vanderbilt on Sunday, September 11 at noon in Berkeley.
