Lepps Rebounds with 70 But Fails to Advance at Open
Sept. 9, 2005
Vancouver, BC - Washington senior James Lepp shot even-par 70, but it was not enough to overcome an opening-round 78 and he failed to make the cut at the Bell Canadian Open. Lepp completed the first two rounds of play in 110th place for the event being played at Vancouver's Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club.
Lepp was four over through his first eight holes during the second round before finishing strong. Lepp managed birdies over four of his next nine holes to pull back to even.
Former Husky Rob Rashell also failed to move on to weekend play. He finished at 5-over 145 after rounds of 72 and 73. Mark Calcavecchia leads the field at 8-under 132.
Lepp, the 2005 NCAA Champion, will start his senior season at Washington Sept. 17 and 18 when the Huskies travel to Minnesota for the Tom Lehman Invitational.
