Stanford's Foluke Akinradewo Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 5 - Sept. 11, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Akinradewo, a freshman from Plantation, Fla., helped the No. 3 Cardinal to four victories in four matches at New Hampshire, and at the Colorado Invitational. In those four matches, she collected 52 kills in 90 attempts for a .578 hitting percentage. She also had 10 blocks and five digs.

Akinradewo was named MVP of the Colorado Invitational as she collected 43 kills in 74 attempts for a .486 hitting percentage in three wins.

Over the four-match stretch, Akinradewo hit .450 or better in each contest. She leads Stanford (8-1) in kills (122) and hitting percentage (.448).

The Cardinal will next host its own Stanford Invitational, Sept. 15-17, in which it will face Saint Mary's, Utah State, and UC Santa Barbara.

This is Akrinradewo's first weekly honor and Stanford's 54th Player of the Week honor all-time.
