California's Tyson Wahl Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- CALIFORNIA senior defender Tyson Wahl has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 6-12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Wahl, from Newport Beach, Calif., scored the game-winning goal in the 47th minute off a penalty kick in Friday's 3-0 Cal victory over Vanderbilt, marking the first such game-winner of his career. He also assisted on senior forward Pieter Berger's goal, just 10 minutes later.
Wahl, who earned MVP honors at the ninth-annual adidas Cal Legacy Classic, has started in all four matches this season, recording two goals and one assist.
With one victory and a tie last week, the Bears improved their overall record to 3-0-1 and are ranked No. 8 in the latest versions of both the Soccer America and Soccer Times Top-25 poll.
This is Wahl's first weekly honor and the eighth all-time player of the week honor for the Bears.
