Men's Golf Ranked Sixth In Golfweek Preseason Poll

In its annual preseason poll, Golfweek ranks the Arizona State men sixth. The Sun Devils are coming off an eleventh-place finish at last year's NCAA Championships and return five lettermen including eighth-ranked senior Alejandro Canizares.
In addition to placing eleventh last season at NCAA Championships, the Sun Devils finished second in Pac-10 and tied for fourth at the NCAA West Regionals. ASU also placed in a number of other tournaments including a third place finish at its annual Thunderbird Tournament and a sixth place finish at the U.S. Intercollegiate Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. The Sun Devils also finished fifth at the Southern Highland Collegiate Tournament in Las Vegas and ninth at the National Invitational Tournament held in Tucson, Ariz.
The Sun Devils are led by three-time All-American Alejandro Canizares of Spain. Canizares was the 2003 NCAA champion and has won six collegiate tournaments in his career. ASU also returns seniors Lenny Park of Korea and Charly Simon of Spain along with juniors Fredrik Andersson and Niklas Lemke both of Sweden.
The Sun Devils begins action for 2006 season at the NCAA Ping Preview held September 26-28 in Sunriver, Ore.
