Sept. 16, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball program has announced its 2006 season schedule. The Trojans will have another competitive schedule, including the USC Public Storage Baseball Classic (Feb. 17-19), which will feature Kansas, San Diego and Vanderbilt.

Kansas and Vanderbilt are making their first appearance ever at Dedeaux Field. Another first-time opponent at USC's friendly confines will be Georgia. The Bulldogs will make a rare West Coast appearance in a three-game series (March 2-4).

The Trojans open the season against Long Beach State on Friday (Feb. 3) in a 6:30 p.m. game at Blair Field. The Sunday game on Feb. 5 will also be at Blair Field, sandwiched between the Dedeaux Field opener on Saturday (Feb. 4). USC hosts Florida International, Feb. 10-12, before the Public Storage Baseball Classic. Two nonconference series include a trip to Hawaii (Feb. 24-26) and late-season trip to Wichita State (May 19-21).

The Pac-10 Conference schedule will have Oregon State (March 17-19), California (April 7-9), Washington (April 21-23) and Arizona (May 26-28) playing at Dedeaux Field as the Trojans will also play Stanford (March 10-12) in a nonconference series.

USC finished the 2005 season with a 41-22 record after reaching the NCAA Super Regional for the fifth time in seven years. The Trojans will return seven starting position players, as well as two-time U.S. National Team pitcher Ian Kennedy for the 2006 season.
