Oregon State's Ryan Johnson Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Sept. 20, 2005
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State senior forward Ryan Johnson has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 13 - Sept. 19, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Johnson, from Boston, Mass., tallied the primary assist on all three of the Beavers' goals Friday in their 3-0 victory over UNLV. His three assists ties an Oregon State single game record, including his own against Rhode Island in 2003.
On Saturday, Johnson scored the opening goal versus No. 1 Indiana and later drew a penalty kick in the second half. His goal was only the second score the Hoosiers had allowed all season. Johnson, who is Oregon State's career leader in assists (25), has totaled one goal and four assists this season.
The Beavers (2-2-3) will next travel to Spokane, Wash., to face Gonzaga on Tues., Sept. 20, as well as facing Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Jacksonville later in the week.
This is Johnsons's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and 10th all-time weekly honor for Oregon State.
