UCLA's Iris Mora Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA senior forward Iris Mora has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 13- Sept. 19, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Mora, from Cancun, Mexico, broke the UCLA record for career assists when she registered the 28th of her career in a 4-0 victory over Saint Mary's on Sunday. She also had two goals in that game, including one just 18 seconds into the match. Against fourth-ranked Santa Clara on Friday, Mora assisted on the game-winning overtime goal to give the Bruins a 2-1 upset win.
Mora became the first UCLA women's soccer player to participate in an Olympic Games when she played in the 2004 Athens Games representing Mexico. A two-time All-Pac-10 selection, she also ranks in the top ten in the UCLA career record books for points, goals, game-winning goals and shots.
The Bruins (7-1) handed No. 4 Santa Clara its first loss of the season last week to move up to No. 4 in the nationl polls. UCLA takes on Denver at home pm Fri., Sept. 23 and travels to UC Santa Barbara and Pepperdine in the last two weeks before Conference play begins.
This is Mora's third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and UCLA's 16th weekly honor all-time.
