Stanford Men's Soccer Tournament Rescheduled for SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Sept. 22, 2005
Stanford, Calif. - Due to the projected track of Hurricane Rita, Stanford men's soccer will alter the schedule of this weekend's Stanford Nike Invitational, with Friday's games moving to Saturday evening and Sunday's matches moving later in the day to accommodate back-to-back game-days.
All commercial flights through the Houston Airport System will cease in preparation for the hurricane, causing Alabama-Birmingham's flights to Palo Alto through Houston to be cancelled and preventing the Blazers from arriving in California by Friday's game time. Stanford, California and Army were able to shift the matches in order to accommodate UAB's flights and still allow all four games to be played this weekend.
The Stanford Nike Invitational will now feature California and Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., followed by Stanford and Army at 6 p.m. On Sunday, and the Golden Bears will take on UAB at 4:30 p.m., and the Cardinal will be paired with Army at 7 p.m.
All promotions for the Stanford Nike Invitational remain unchanged. Stanford Students will get in the games for free with a Student ID, and on Sunday, AYSO Day means that all youth players wearing a soccer uniform will get in the games for free.
