USC Opens 2005-2006 Play At Dick McGuire Invitational

The USC women's golf team, ranked No. 8 in the preseason by, opens up 2005-2006 play next week when it participates in the 27th annual Dick McGuire Invitational from Monday to Wednesday (Sept. 26-28) at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M.

Behind 2005 All-American and 2006 sophomore Dewi-Claire Schreefel, USC returns its entire scholarship roster from last season.

Coach Andrea Gaston will rely on Schreefel, seniors Irene Cho and Tanya Dergal, junior Veronica Felibert and Catalina Marin and sophomore Paola Moreno to be the heart of the Trojan team.

The tournament features 18 teams and eight individuals and results will be available at Among the challengers for the tournament title besides USC are Pepperdine, Ohio State and Cal.

The course is par-73 and 6,069 yards long. Practice rounds are Sunday (Sept. 25) and play begins at 8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.
