COLLEGE PARK, Md-The Washington State tennis team continued their strong play at the Maryland Invitational. Ekaterina Burduli and Amy Toth both qualified into the final round of their flights. The duo of Aleksandra Cekic and Marjolein van de Ven also reached the final in their doubles flight.

Sophomore Burduli backed her No. 45 ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with an upset of Maryland's Romona But, 6-7 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4. But is currently No. 31 in the nation and was seeded second in flight A. The undefeated Burduli advances to Sunday's final, where she will meet Daniela Bercek of Duke. Bercek is ranked fifth in the country and has yet to drop a set in the tournament. Seeded first in the bracket, Bercek will be the highest ranked opponent Burduli has faced in her WSU career.

In flight B, junior Toth stormed to the final with a victory over Monica Lyskawa of West Virginia, 6-3, 6-1. The 5-foot-5 Mississauga, Ontario native cruised through her straight set victory to compete against Marina Chiarelli of LSU. Toth has won 6 straight singles matches to give her a season total of 6-1.

The WSU tandem of Cekic and van de Ven will be competing in Sunday's final of flight C. The teammates defeated the Yale duo of Karolina Grygierowska and Llian Nguyen, 8-0. The win earned Cekic and van de Ven a spot opposite top seeded Juliana Naso and Brooke Rogers of Maryland.

'I'm thrilled with the performance of our players,' WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart said. 'We're all excited to watch Ekaterina (Burduli), Amy (Toth), Aleksandra (Cekic), and Marjolein (van de Ven) compete in tomorrow's finals match-ups.
