Cho Leads Women Of Troy's First Round Of 2005-2006

The USC women's golf team opened the 2005-2006 schedule with a strong performance, finishing tied for second on the first day of the Dick McGuire Invitational a the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M., on Monday (Sept. 26).
The Trojans finished with a combined 293 (+1), six strokes back of leader Ohio State (287). USC is tied with UNLV while Texas A&M is in fourth at 294.
Senior Irene Cho led the way for the Women of Troy, firing a 72 (-1) for an 11th-place tie (three shots off the lead) while sophomore Dewi Schreefel and junior Veronica Feilbert both carded 73s to tie for 19th. Sophomore Paolo Moreno is tied for 33rd after a 75 while senior Tanya Dergal checked in with a 78 (tied for 64th).
Cho birdied five holes on the day, including two of the final three. Schreefel was 3-over but birdied three of the final five to reach par while Felibert was one under over the final nine holes.
The invitational continues Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 27-28).
