Ley, Shaw Lead USC At Golfweek/Ping Preview

The USC men's golf team, coming off a second-place finish in its first tournament of the season, finished 13th after the first round of the Golfweek/Ping Preview at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore., on Monday (Sept. 26).

Seniors Bradley Shaw and Tyler Ley led the Trojans, who finished with a combined 304 (+16). Georgia leads at 284 with UNLV second at 290. The course is the home to the 2006 NCAA Championships in June.

Ley, in his first tournament of the season, and Shaw both finished the first round with 74s (+2), tied for 27th. Ley posted 16 pars and two bogeys in a consistent round while Shaw had one birdie and three bogeys.

Senior Taylor Wood hit the clubhouse at 76 (+4) while junior Joshua Wooding finished at 80 (+8) and freshman Tom Glissmeyer finished with an 81 (+9).

The invitational continues Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 27-28).
