Men's Golf Opens Season At NCAA Preview In Oregon

The fall portion of the 2005-06 schedule for Arizona State's golf team will get underway on Monday when the Sun Devils travel to Sunriver, Ore., to take part in the Ping/Golfweek Preview.

The 54-hole event will begin on Monday and run through Wednesday at the par-72, 7,671-yard Crosswater Golf Course, with 18 holes played each day.

Arizona State enters the season ranked sixth nationally by Golfweek. The Sun Devils are one of nine teams ranked in the preseason top 10 that are among the 15 teams in the tournament field.

The Sun Devil lineup for this year's event will consist of four returners and one newcomer.

Newcomer Benjamin Alvarado Holley, 2003 NCAA champion and three-time All-American Alejandro Canizares, 2005 All-American Niklas Lemke, senior Lenny Park and sophomore Phil Telliard make up ASU's five-man squad.

The Ping/Golfweek Preview, which is held each fall at the site of the following spring's NCAA Championship, is in its 17th year of existence.
