Bruins Hit the Road for Two
The fourth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team (8-1) rounds out non-conference play this week, taking on UC Santa Barbara (5-5) this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and No. 10 Pepperdine (8-0-1) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches are on the road. The Bruins posted a 6-1 victory over UCSB last season at Drake Stadium and lead the all-time series 2-1-1. UCLA defeated Pepperdine twice last year, taking a 1-0 victory during the regular season and another 1-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins lead that series 8-2.

UCLA Blanks Denver, 1-0
A goal by sophomore midfielder Danesha Adams was the difference in UCLA's 1-0 victory over Denver last Friday at Drake Stadium. The goal, coming in the 56th minute, was assisted by Stacy Lindstrom and Kara Lang. It was the team-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season for Adams, who also tops the team in overall scoring with 15 points (7g, 1a).

Bruins Remain Fourth Nationally
With no upsets in the top-3 last week, the Bruins remained at No. 4 in the three weekly polls issued by NSCAA/adidas, Soccer America and Soccer Buzz. UCLA began the season ranked No. 3 (NSCAA/adidas) before losing to Penn State. The Bruins, who have remained in the top-6 all season, are the highest ranked team in the Pac-10.

UCLA in the National Statistics
After surrendering just three goals all season, the Bruins are ranked eighth nationally in goals against average (0.33). With six shutouts in nine matches, the Bruins are also tied for ninth in the country in shutout percentage (0.67). The only other category that UCLA is ranked in this week is winning percentage, checking in tied for 13th nationally at .889.

Freshmen Hardy, DiMartino Solidify Starting Roles
Defender Erin Hardy and midfielder Christina DiMartino are the only two freshmen who have started all nine matches this season. Hardy's play has been a big reason why the Bruins have posted six shutouts in nine matches, giving up just three goals all year. DiMartino, who has a goal and an assist for three points, scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over No. 25 San Diego back on Aug. 28. Fellow freshman Kara Lang, who would've started all nine matches this season had it not been for Canadian National Team duty, ranks second on the team in scoring with 12 points (5g, 2a).

Career Statistics
Although Iris Mora is the only current Bruin to lead a career statistical category (her 28 assists is a school record), several other Bruins have moved up the UCLA career charts this season. With eight victories, goalkeeper Valerie Henderson is now tied for third all-time with Sarah Lombardo for career wins with 26. Her 16 shutouts is also good enough for third place all time. Defender Jill Oakes recently moved into the top-10 in games started when she recorded the 70th of her career last week. If she starts the remaining 11 games of the regular season, she will be in the top-5.

Head Coach Jillian Ellis
Jillian Ellis is in her seventh season as head coach of the UCLA women's soccer team. The NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year in 2000, Ellis owns a 118-26-5 record at UCLA and is 137-44-5 overall, which includes two seasons at the University of Illinois. Ellis has guided the Bruins to the NCAA Tournament in each of her six seasons, highlighted by three trips to the NCAA College Cup.
