Elissa Kinard Named Women's Tennis Assistant Coach

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Elissa Kinard has been named assistant tennis coach at Washington State University, Cougar Head Coach Lisa Hart announced Friday.

Kinard spent last season as assistant coach at American University where she supervised and assisted with the daily operations of the tennis program and recruiting.

Kinard had an impressive collegiate career at University of Nebraska where she was the Big 12 No. 5 slot runner-up in 2001 as a sophomore. Kinard transferred to Virginia Tech in 2002-03 and earned the Hokies' Rookie of the Year honors while playing for Hart. Kinard was ranked in doubles during her two years at Virginia Tech.

'I am thrilled to have someone of Elissa's caliber on staff,' Hart said. 'Her playing ability, personality and her instructional and coaching expertise at the college level will be a great asset to our program.'

Hart added, 'Elissa is an excellent recruiter and will help build the tradition of Washington State tennis.'

Kinard graduated at Virginia Tech in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in sociology before earning her master's in health promotions earlier this year.
