No. 4 Bruins Rout Gauchos, 5-0

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The start of UC Santa Barbara's Wednesday nightsoccer match against fourth-ranked UCLA was delayed by an hour because thevisitor's bus was stuck in traffic. When the Bruins did arrive in SantaBarbara, they were ready to play and it showed in a 5-0 victory over theGauchos.
UCLA did its first damage at 12:50 in the first half when Iris Mora took across from Kara Lang and fired a shot that was blocked by a UCSB defender.Mora, however, pounced on the rebound and blasted a shot past goalkeeperJamie Considine to give her team a 1-0 lead.
The Bruins made it 2-0 at 25:49 when Christina DiMartino slid a perfect passfrom right to left across the box to Danesha Adams. Without breakingstride, Adams one-timed a left-footed shot inside the left post for hereighth goal of the season.
UCLA used a little luck to complete its first half scoring. At 41:33,defender Mary Castelanelli drover up the left sideline. Castelanellicracked a powerful cross from about 25 yards out towards the far post. Theblast was intended as a pass, but it went into the upper-right corner of thegoal and all Castelanelli could do was shrug.
The Bruins scored two more in the second half. DiMartino dribbled the ballnear the left side at the top of the box. She sidled right to left and slida shot through traffic and just inside the left post. Stephanie Kroncompleted the scoring with an unassisted goal from just above the boxstraightaway at 74:39. The final goal came against UCSB's secondgoalkeeper, Kelly Soler.
UCLA dominated the match, outshooting the Gauchos 19-3. In fact, UCSB didnot even take a shot until Nicole Remmenga attempted one in the 53rd minute.Freshman Genelle Ives had two of UCSB's three shots. Considine had foursaves for UCSB, Soler had one.
Next up for the Bruins will be a meeting with No. 10 Pepperdine
