Freshman Matt Bruch Wins Cardinal Debut at All-American Championships

Freshman Matt Bruch made his Cardinal debut a successful one as he defeated Dusan Tabak of Louisianna-Lafayette 6-0, 6-4 in the opening match of the qualifying round at the Polo Ralph Lauren Men's All-American Tennis Championships at the University of Tulsa.

Bruch, a freshman from Lake Forest, Illinois, advances to the second round on Tuesday (Oct. 4). Teammate James Pade lost his opening round match to Alex Schweizer of Auburn 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Junior James Wan was seeded first in the qualifying round, but was moved to the main draw and will not play until Thursday (Oct. 6).

Along with Bruch's second round singles match on Tuesday, Bruch and Wan will open doubles play in the opening match of the qualifying round.
