Softball To Play Intrasquad Scrimmage Saturday

SEATTLE-- The Washington softball team will hold the Purple and Gold intrasquad scrimmage this Saturday at 11 am. The event is free to spectators.

Washington returns nine letterwinners from the 2005 team that fell one game shy of the College World Series. The Huskies return All-America second baseman Dominique Lastrapes and All-Pac-10 selections Ashley Charters (SS), Lauren Greer (OF), Sarah Hyatt (1B) and Aimee Minor (OF).

UW also welcomes seven newcomers, including transfers Dena DePoma (Verdugo Hills, Calif.), a catcher from Hawaii, and Nicole Moojen (Wistminster, Calif.), an infielder from Cypress Junior College.

Five freshmen will make their purple and gold debuts Saturday including infielder/pitcher Brooke Woodward (Vancouver, Wash), pitcher Danielle Lawrie (Langley, British Columbia), catcher Ashlyn Watson (Garden Grove, Calif.), utility Alicia Matthews (Olympia, Wash), and outfielder Marnie Koziol (Renton, Wash.).
