Babos and Fodor Advance to Main Draw

LOS ANGELES - The California women's tennis team completed the second day of play Wednesday, Oct 5, at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. Suzi Babos and Zsuzsanna Fodor defeated both opponents in doubles action yesterday to advance on to the main draw, which begins today, Thursday, Oct. 6, through Sunday.

In singles action Cal's Cristina Visico was eliminated by Carolin Walter of Baylor, 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 16.

On the doubles court Suzi Babos and Zsuzsanna Fodor teamed up to defeat Ashley Bentley and Robin Stephenson of Alabama, 8-4, in the round of 16. Fodor and Babos then went on to outlast Lauren Perl and Emma Murphy of the University of San Diego, 8-2 in the quarterfinals. The duo advances on to the main draw where it will face Anca Anastasiu and Carine Vermuelen of USC.

No. 2 seeded Suzi Babos will take on Petra Dizdar of Texas in the round of 16 in the singles championships. Teammate Zsuzsanna Fodor is set to face Olga Boulytcheva of BYU.
