No. 17 USC Sweeps Oregon State, 3-0

LOS ANGELES -- Senior Bibiana Candelas (Torreón, Mexico/Colegio Ponceño) had a team-high 22 kills Friday as the No. 17 USC Women of Troy swept the Oregon State Beavers, 3-0 (30-28, 30-19, 30-14), in Pac-10 Conference action at the Lyon Center.

Senior Staci Venski added 17 kills for the Women of Troy. Venski did not have an attacking error on the evening, hitting .415 for the match.

USC improves to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in Pac-10 play while Oregon State falls to 5-6 on the season, 1-4 in conference.

Kristin Murray led the Beavers with 11 kills, hitting a team-high .500 (11-1-20) for the match.

The first game of the match was evenly played as both teams played to a 28-28 score. A service error by Oregon State and a kill by middle blocker Andrea McBride gave USC the game win. In game two, USC pulled away from a 13-11 lead thanks to service aces by Alli Dillon and Kelli Tennant.

After a 14-9 lead in the third game, the Women of Troy pulled away with eight straight points en route to a game-high .469 percentage (18-3-32).

USC hosts Oregon tomorrow at 5 p.m. with the match being broadcast live on
