Slovic Advances to the Consolation Round of Eight

Tulsa, OK.-- Husky junior Alex Slovic appears to have recovered from his season opening loss, with two straight victories advancing him to the elite eight of the All-American Consolation Championship. Slovic is now three wins away from repeating his remarkable comeback of last year where he tallied off five wins after an opening round loss to win the consolation tournament.

In the second round of consolation play, Slovic faced off with Texas Tech's Bojan Szumanski. The match was won swiftly, Slovic prevailing 6-1, 6-1.

The match brought the Slvoic and Szumanski career series to a 1-1 tie. The two opponents played last season in dual play, where Slovic was coming off an injury. Szumanski won the match 6-4, 6-4 and helped Texas Tech upset the then 12th ranked Huskies.

In the third round of consolation play, Slovic will meet the Duke Blue Devils' Jonathan Storkke at 10:00 am Sat. Storkke is ranked No. 53 in the preseason rankings.
