No. 19 Stanford Picks Up 1-0 Win Over Washington

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford improved to 8-3-1 with a 2-0-0 record in Pac-10 play after scoring a 1-0 victory over Washington (0-10-3, 0-2-0) this afternoon at Maloney Field. Freshman Hillary Heath, a Seattle native, scored the game-winner in the 28th minute, helping Stanford to a 2-0 start in the conference for the first time since the 2002 season.
In the 27th minute, junior Shari Summers sent in a corner kick that the Cardinal was able to keep alive in the box until Heath got her foot on it and sent a hard kick into the back of the net. The game-winner was Heath's first collegiate goal.
Stanford fired off eight shots on the day, including four on goal, while Washington was limited to only three shots. Stanford keeper Alex Gamble picked up two saves, while Husky goalie Kelsey Rasmussen notched three saves.
