No. 25 Cal in Ninth After 1st Round of Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - No. 25 California is in ninth place with a score of 23-over 311 after the first round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational Monday at Sahalee Country Club. Light rain fell during part of today's round.
No. 2 Pepperdine leads the 14-team tournament with a score of six-over 294. No. 9 Arizona State and Stanford are tied for second at 300. Arizona is fourth (302) and No. 10 UNLV, No. 22 Brigham Young and Long Beach State share fifth at 306. The Bears are three shots behind No. 8 Washington (308), the host, for eighth.
Junior Mika Takayama leads all Cal golfers in a tie for 21st at 76. After a triple bogey on the second hole, Takayma rebounded nicely to get to even par through 12 holes thanks to four birdies. Sophomore Enu Chung is tied for 25th at 77, and senior Sofie Andersson is tied for 37th (78). Freshman Shannon Yocum provided Cal's other counting score of the day (80, T48th).
UNLV's Da Sol Chung is tied for first with Stanford's Jenni Tangtiphaiboontana at even-par 72. Five golfers are tied for third at 73.
The Bears tee off the second of three rounds Tuesday at 11:35 a.m. from the 10th tee.
