UCLA to Run at Pre-NCAA Invite on Saturday in Terre Haute, IN

Eric Peterson's UCLA Bruin men and women's cross country teams on Saturday (Oct. 15) will run in the Pre-NCAA Invitational at Terre Haute, IN and hosted by Indiana State University at the Wabash Family Sports Center.
The biggest and most important cross country meet so far this season, the Pre-NCAA meet attracts the top men and women's teams in the nation. The women's 6000m and men's 8000m courses are a preview of the upcoming 2005 NCAA Championships, also hosted by Indiana State on Nov. 21. On Saturday, there will be two seeded women and men's races, along with a women and men's open competition. The men's seeded 8000m races begin at 8 a.m. PT and the women's seeded 6000m races at 9:20 a.m. PT.
UCLA will be competing against the nation's top-ranked teams. Running at the Pre-NCAA meet will be - No. 3 Colorado, No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 8 Iona, No. 10 Cal Poly-SLO, No. 12 Georgetown, No. 13 Florida, No. 14 Iowa, No. 15 William and Mary, No. 16 Portland, No. 17 Florida State, No. 18 Ohio State, No. 19 Michigan, No. 21 Indiana, No. 22 Dartmouth, No. 23 North Carolina State, No. 24 Washington, No. 26 Air Force, No. 27 Arizona State, No. 28 Kansas, No. 29 Virginia and No. 30 Colorado State.
Ramos and Haddan have been UCLA's top runners this season. At the Sundodger Invite (Seattle, WA/Sept. 17), Ramos won the men's individual 8000m event (24:00), with Haddan placing 17th (24:33) and at the Griak Invite (St. Paul, MN/Sept. 24), Ramos finished sixth (24:21) over the 8000m course and Haddan placed 56th (25:21).
Last Saturday (Oct. 8) at the UC San Diego Triton XC Classic, Stollenwerk led UCLA's two runners, placing 17th overall in a time of 26:43.9 (8000m).
Following the Pre-NCAA meet, there will be a final tuneup race before the start of the 2005 championship invitationals. On Friday, Oct. 21, CS Fullerton will host an invitational on their campus course.
The 2005 Pac-10 Championships will be Saturday, Oct. 29 on the Randolff Golf Course in Tucson, AZ and the 2005 NCAA West Regional Championships will be Saturday, Nov. 12 on the Stanford campus golf course.
