No. 25 Cal Places Eighth at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - No. 25 California finished in eighth place Wednesday at the Edean Ehlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club. The Golden Bears, who began the day in 10th, carded their best round of the 14-team tournament (302) to finish with a score of 928.

No. 2 Pepperdine began the day in second place but won the tournament by one shot with a 54-hole score of 891 (+27). The Waves fired a tournament-low round of six-over 290 today to overtake second-place Arizona State (892). No. 16 USC took third at 909, No. 10 UNLV was fourth at 915 and Arizona grabbed fifth at 918.

Junior Mika Takayama tied for 12th to lead all Cal golfers at 10-over 226. Takayama, who started on the 10th hole, shot a two-over 74 today for her low round of the event. She was at even par through her first 12 holes with a birdie and one bogey.

Cal senior Sofie Andersson climbed 13 spots to a tie for 19th at 229 following a round of 74. Andersson was also at even-par through 12 holes with two birdies and two bogeys. Senior Sophia Sheridan made a strong recovery after two disappointing rounds. Sheridan carded a 75 today to finish in a tie for 56th (243). She played her final eight holes (two-nine) at one-under par with a birdie on the par three fifth hole and no bogeys.

Sophomore Enu Chung posted a 79 for Cal's other counting score in the final round. Chung ended the tournament in a tie for 28th at 233. Freshman Allison Goodman, who was competing as an individual, led all the Bears with a score of 73 today to finish in a tie for 47th (239) in her first collegiate competition.

Arizona State's Jennifer Osborn claimed medalist honors with a one-under 215. USC `s Irene Cho placed second at 217 after recording the low round of the tournament (five-under 67).

Cal returns to action at the Stanford Intercollegiate Oct. 21-23.
