No. 13 Cal Volleyball Wins at Arizona State, 3-0

TEMPE, ARIZ. - Paced by 15 kills from sophomore Angie Pressey and a career-high 13 kills from redshirt freshman Am'ra Solomon, the No. 13-ranked California women's volleyball team (13-3, 6-1) defeated Arizona State (6-10, 1-5) 3-0 (30-21, 30-20, 30-27) Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz.
Pressey hit .379 for the match with 15 kills and four errors in 29 attempts. Solomon was outstanding in only her second collegiate start, hitting a team-best .550 with 13 kills and only two errors in 20 attempts. She also recorded four total blocks, including two solo blocks.
Senior outside hitter Jenna Brown played another solid match, tallying 10 kills with a .368 hitting percentage (10k, 3e, 19att) and was second on the team with 13 digs. Junior libero Jillian Davis had a team-high 15 digs, sophomore middle hitter Ellen Orchard added five total blocks and junior setter Samantha Carter finished with 44 assists. Brown and senior middle hitter Alicia Powers had three service aces apiece.
The Bears out-hit the Sun Devils, .340 to .175. It was Cal's sixth straight victory over Arizona State.
Cal will next travel to No. 12 Arizona, Friday, Oct. 14 with a 7 p.m. match at the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz.
